      I am pregnant and just found out my platelet count is lower than the normal range. Any foods to help boost my platelet count?

    I have a snack food recipe for peanut butter playdough and a question about it.

    1 cup peanut butter (I use natural peanut butter)
    1 cup rolled oats
    1 cup non-fat dried milk
    1 cup honey

    All the ingredients look like they are generally healthy, but is this really a healthy snack?

    Hi Kristin, that seems like a lot of honey to use. I would start with a tablespoon and add more for desired sweetness from there. While natural honey is one of the best sources of sweetness, you don’t want to overdo it because it will still spike your blood sugar.

    Rolled oats are a great source of complex carbs and soluble fiber.

    This would be a great energy snack to have before a workout but I wouldn’t recommend eating this a lot during the day since it will still be high in fat and calories. Maybe have two tablespoons of this with an apple as a snack.

    It also depends on how active you are currently as the more fit you are, the higher your metabolism will be and the more likely it will be that your body will use all the energy from this snack and not convert it to fat.

    Can this vegetable Goya be cooked before eating or Can it be taking without boiling?

      You do not have to cook Goya before eating. You can cut it into thin pieces and let it sit in some salted water for about 10 minutes then rinse well. This will cut down on some of the bitterness.
